Day 2 - Luxor temple

As I only got to bed at 2am I decided to breakfast late then just unpack. After I did this I just gazed out of my window. The haze had gone and there was then Nile and Luxor Temple in all its glory. I realised it was all worth it, just for that sight.

I decided to go over to the East Bank to visit the Sunshine Orphanage then see someone at the Winter Palace. They weren't in so I used the staff entrance to the rear of the property to get out on to Television St. This is where the mobile phone shops are, so off I went to the Vodaphone one.

As usual, it was horrendous. I got my ticket and had to wait 40 mins just to be seen. The phone worked when I took it in but somehow it left not working.  They are not helpful at all and I dread going in there each year. My new friend's husband had recommended Mobilnil so off I went to that one.

What a contrast! The service was excellent and I ended up with a working phone at last. However, I had spent over two hours sorting the phone and it was now too late to go to the orphanage. I decided to visit a travel agent to find a cruise boat for next week.

I was taken to see two. One was great but sailing at the wrong time, the other wasn't as nice. Instead I am viewing another one on day 4. I was so fed up that I decided to go to MacDonalds and although I hate to admit it, I really enjoyed my first meal in Egypt!

When I left I took some photos of the Luxor Temple by night. It looked lovely.

I went back to the hotel on the public ferry. It's really cold at night so I was freezing crossing the river. I ad an early night so I would be ready for tomorrow's trip to Abydos
